Replacing Your Amazfit Helio Ring: Which Subscription-Free Smart Ring to Buy for Sleep and Recovery

29 Oct 2026

If the part of your Helio Ring you'd miss most is the quick morning look at how you slept and how recovered you are, the JCRing Air X6 keeps that check-in going without a paid tier. It covers the readings you've been opening the Zepp App for, including a sleep score with stage trends, overnight resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), and a morning readiness view, and its AI wellness insights are included with the $179 ring.

What Your Helio Ring Mornings Look Like in Zepp

On the Helio Ring, sleep is recorded automatically when you wear it to bed, and the Zepp App shows sleep duration, sleep stages, a sleep score, and naps. If you wear the ring through the day, you get a Readiness score at the end of the night's sleep. Amazfit's manual describes that score as a balance of five components: physical energy, cognitive energy, HRV, resting heart rate, and respiratory quality. A Training Recovery card on the home screen pulls together sleep, physical and mental readiness, sleep resting heart rate, sleep HRV, and full recovery time.

The Zepp App itself is free. The deeper layer sits in Zepp Aura, Amazfit's premium subscription:

  • Free for all users: personalized sleep music, guided meditation, and one daily message to the AI sleep assistant.
  • Zepp Aura premium: unlimited sleep and meditation content, detailed weekly and monthly sleep reports, and AI-powered personalized recommendations.
  • Readiness insight: Amazfit's support page notes that the Insight service provided by Readiness, the expert-written analysis behind your score, requires a Zepp Aura membership, and it's available in select regions.

So the Readiness number itself is part of the free experience, while the written analysis of it and the longer weekly and monthly sleep reports sit in the paid tier.

Where Each Habit Lands on the JCRing Air X6

The Air X6 uses the JCVital Pro App, and the table pairs each Helio Ring view with its nearest counterpart there. Because each brand builds its scores with its own software, the pairs tell you where to look, and the values themselves will differ.

What you check in Zepp Closest counterpart in the JCVital Pro App
Sleep score Sleep Score for your nightly sleep quality
Sleep stages and duration Sleep Patterns with sleep stages, plus deep sleep and REM trends
Sleep resting heart rate Resting heart rate patterns over time
Sleep HRV HRV trends reflecting your recovery state
Readiness score Recovery Score™ with a Readiness view
Written interpretation of your readiness (Readiness Insight, Zepp Aura) AI Wellness Insights: daily insights, trend analysis, personal guidance
Weekly and monthly sleep reports (Zepp Aura) Sleep Trends and long-term sleep patterns

The last two rows are the ones that sit in Zepp Aura on the Helio Ring side. On the Air X6, they're part of the free app.

A few views will be new to you. Fuel Score™ pulls your activity, sleep quality, recovery signals, and lifestyle patterns into one number that JCVital calls a daily wellness balance indicator. VitalAge™ is designed to show how your lifestyle, recovery habits, and daily behaviors influence your overall wellness over time. Stress Patterns and Daily Balance Trends show how stress runs through your day.

Letting a New Baseline Form

Expect your first scores to look unfamiliar, and give them time before you judge them.

A sleep score or recovery score is a composite. Each brand decides which signals go in, how they're weighted, and what counts as a good night. Your Helio Ring's Readiness blended five components on Amazfit's scale, while your Air X6 Recovery Score™ comes from JCVital's own software, so the two numbers sit on different scales. A 74 on one isn't a 74 on the other, and a lower first-week number doesn't mean you're recovering worse than you were last month.

The underlying signals make a better bridge between the two rings. Resting heart rate and HRV are physiological measures, so the way they move after a late night or a hard workout will look familiar even as the exact values shift.

Your own sense of what's normal on the new ring settles sooner when the first few weeks are mostly ordinary nights. That means wearing the Air X6 every night from the start, since gaps leave fewer typical nights in the record.

If you can, start during a normal stretch of life and avoid making the switch at the start of a trip, a new training block, or a run of late nights, so the early readings reflect how you usually live. Once a couple of weeks have passed, read each morning's Recovery Score™ against your own recent mornings on the Air X6, and stop holding it up against the number you remember from Zepp. Keep the ring on the same finger each night throughout, so the comparisons stay fair.

Measure for a New Size

Ring sizes don't carry over cleanly between brands, so don't order by your Helio Ring size alone. Inner dimensions can differ even when two rings share a size number.

Your Helio Ring makes a good measuring tool. The sizing chart on the Air X6 product page suggests measuring with a string or a ring you already have, then matching the result against a chart of inner diameter and inner circumference. Measure the Helio Ring that fits the finger you plan to wear the Air X6 on, and use its inner diameter to find your size. Our ring size guide shows the full JCRing chart.

In many cases you can stay on the finger you already use. Amazfit recommends the index finger for the Helio Ring, and JCRing's own wearing guidance also points to the index finger, on your non-dominant hand, with the sensor resting against the palm side. If your Helio Ring already lived there, that's the finger to measure. If you wore it somewhere else, measure the finger you intend to use from now on. For more on why a snug overnight fit matters, see our guide to smart ring sizing and loose-fit overnight readings.

What Each Setup Charges For

Both setups start with a free app, so the difference comes down to which features each places in a paid tier. With the Helio Ring, the Readiness score itself is included, while the expert interpretation and the detailed weekly and monthly sleep reports belong to Zepp Aura. In the US, Aura is listed at $11.99 a month or $69.99 a year, with a 14-day free trial. The Air X6 is $179, and its AI wellness insights, sleep trends, Recovery Score™, Fuel Score™, and VitalAge™ are included with no subscription required. If you've been paying for Zepp Aura mainly to read what your readiness score means, that cost doesn't carry over to the Air X6.

Why the JCRing Air X6 Is Our Pick for Helio Ring Owners

The Air X6 is designed for the overnight routine you're used to: put it on, sleep, and check in each morning. Its PPG, temperature, and 3D accelerometer sensors feed the JCVital Pro App, where Sleep Insights give you a nightly Sleep Score, stage patterns, and long-term trends, and Recovery Insights pair your Recovery Score™ with HRV trends, resting heart rate patterns, and Readiness. The AI Wellness Insights layer turns those readings into daily insights and personalized suggestions shaped around your habits.

The readings you checked each morning on the Helio Ring have direct counterparts here, with Fuel Score™ and VitalAge™ added on top. Its 5ATM water resistance covers hand washing, showering, and swimming, and it works with both iPhone and Android, so the phone you used with Zepp can stay. JCVital products are designed for health and wellness management and lifestyle reference only. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and do not replace professional medical advice or medical devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my Air X6 Recovery Score match my old Helio Ring Readiness score? The two scores are built by different software, so they won't line up number for number. Give the Air X6 a couple of weeks of regular wear, then compare each morning with your own recent mornings on the new ring.

Do I need to keep a Zepp Aura membership after switching? The Air X6 doesn't use Zepp Aura, and its sleep and recovery insights don't require a subscription. Whether you keep Aura depends on whether you still use other Amazfit devices or its sleep and meditation content.

I wore my Helio Ring on my middle finger. Should I move to the index finger? JCRing's guidance points to the index finger, though other fingers can work too. If you do move, size the new finger before you order, and expect your baseline to need a fresh couple of weeks there.

My Helio Ring needed daytime wear for Readiness. Should I keep the Air X6 on during the day too? Nights are the part not to skip, since your Sleep Score and the morning check-in build on the hours you wear the ring to bed. Keeping it on while you're up adds the activity side of the app, with Daily Activity, Active Minutes, and Movement Trends, and that daily activity is one of the things Fuel Score™ combines with sleep quality and recovery signals. JCVital describes the Air X6 as comfortable for work and exercise as well as sleep, so you can keep it on around the clock.
